Ajay Devgn hikes his price:
After the mega success of ‘Singham’ Ajay Devgn is surely riding the crest.
With many hits like ‘Golmaal 3’, ‘All The Best’, Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’, ‘Rajneeti’ and ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ to his credit, the brooding actor can pride himself on being the most saleable name in the B’town.
Ajay has been besieged with many good film offers of late and is not compromising on his price now. Insiders from the film circle have revealed that the acclaimed star has hiked up his remuneration and his market price is being negotiated very carefully these days.
Ajay who used to charge Rs. 6-8 crores till now has reportedly hiked the meter which is touching nearly Rs. 18 crores. For Vashu Bhagnani’s next project, the remake of 1983 movie ‘Himmatwala’, he has been paid more than double his usual fee.
According to some reliable sources, “Ajay Devgn is one of the most bankable stars in the industry today. In the last couple of years he has given many hits. But it is only after Singham that Ajay has decided to hike his price. After all, Singham earned a profit of over Rs 100 crores.”
A friend of the actor revealed, “Ajay Devgn is someone who has a fair knowledge of the business and distribution. He has also been involved in the distribution business for some time now.
And that’s the reason why he never believed in increasing his price. He would stick to Rs 6-8 crores for his films. But after Singham, his market value has now multiplied. And so, when he was offered Himmatwala by director Sajid Khan, he took it up at an increased fee.”
When contacted, Devgn’s manager said, “We do not like discussing finances with everybody.”
